Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Policy

The policy of protecting and continuously improving the health status of employees, which constitutes an important priority of the İZDEMİR ENERJİ A. Ş. mission and vision, was implemented with initial trials, and after the positive results were obtained, a decision was made to put the occupational health and safety efforts into a certain systematic and the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHS) Management Plan was created.

While creating the Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plan, all developments in this field, especially legal conditions, and the European Union new approach directives in particular, were taken as basis. In parallel with new approaches in the field of occupational health and safety, we did not just suffice with meeting the legal requirements, we implemented risk management and continuous improvement with risk assessment practices.

Despite all the preparations and meticulousness, this prepared plan is not a standard format and suggests a path and method open to continuous improvement to reach our goal.

The basic principles and objectives that strengthen and implement the İZDEMİR ENERJİ A. Ş. OHSE Policy;

• Ensuring the highest level of stakeholder satisfaction,
• Rapid and continuous improvement of assembly, service and process quality with a researcher identity,
• Producing every job done on the first time, at the most cost-effective, reliable and highest quality,
• Developing a structure that is dynamic and facilitates communication, where the participation of all employees is encouraged,
• Prioritizing science, technology, environmental protection awareness and human health in all studies and demonstrating responsible citizenship behavior,
• Ensuring the happiness and satisfaction of all employees by creating material and spiritual environments that target high efficiency and motivation,
• Creating the necessary environment for worker health and safety and structuring the working environment at minimum risk in terms of occupational diseases and work accidents,
• Taking necessary precautions to prevent the occurrence of all negative environmental impacts,
• Carrying out all activities in full compliance and adherence to legal regulations,
• Continuously improving all applied engineering, design, environmental management, occupational health and safety, etc. systems and standards,
• Showing sensitivity about environmental pollution by using natural resources in the most efficient way,
• Complying with the legal regulations we are subject to regarding OHSE; implementing the controls specified in our Environmental Impact Assessment report and beyond legal regulations,
• Preventing pollution before it occurs and to avoid creating any danger by selecting and using processes and work equipment that create the least pollution and pose the least HSE hazard,
• Reducing pollution at the source by using high quality fuel and advanced technology combustion systems,
• Discharging wastewater and cooling water in a way that does not affect seawater quality,
• Reducing flue gas emissions to values well below legal regulations by using advanced technology treatment systems,
• Separating wastes, ensuring their recycling, and disposing of those that cannot be recycled in a way that will affect the environment the least,
• Applying recycling methods that do not impose an additional burden on the environment and do contribute to the country's economy in terms of ash and gypsum disposal.
