Electrostatic Filter
Electrostatic filters are used in power plants to prevent fly ash contained in the flue gas generated by the combustion of fuel, from being released into the atmosphere and causing environmental pollution.
Electrostatic filters are placed between air heaters and forced draft fans. This prevents the wear that may occur on gas ducts and fan blades due to the fly ash contained in the flue gas. Electrostatic filters operate on the principle of gases containing suspended solids being passed through an electrical field and being negatively charged with electrodes and the negatively charged substances collecting on the positive electrodes, separating from the gas.
The ash collected on the collection electrodes is poured into the ash bunkers under the electro filter by shaking the electrodes at regular intervals. Ash accumulated in ash bunkers is generally sent to ash silos via ash transfer lines. Ash stored in silos can be used as raw material in concrete plants.
